Frequently Asked Questions
If I can’t watch the live stream, can I watch it later?
Yes, the service can be watched either live, or as a recording at any other time from the same link. This is particularly useful for family and friends who are in a different time zone.
What equipment is used for Live Streaming events?
We use professional cameras to capture high definition video. They are also wireless which allows us the versatility to place them in any discreet location. We use professional microphones, so the audio is crystal clear, We use a video switcher, which enables us to softly transition between different camera angles, we use a powerful MacBook Pro with software that enables us to stream and record the event and we use multiple cellular Internet sources, which are bonded together to allow an uninterrupted, optimised stream.
How do you ensure a reliable Internet connection at the venue?
We do not rely on internet at the venue. We use a minimum of three independent cellular Internet connections, bonded together to ensure an uninterrupted and optimised stream.
How long before the event do you set up for the live stream?
We like to arrive at least an hour and a half prior to the service. This insures we have enough time to set up our equipment and test to make sure we are ready to go live at the commencement of the service. This also allows us enough time to troubleshoot any issues that may arise.
Is it possible to restrict access to the live stream?
The live stream cannot be found from a search engine such as Google. Only viewers with the link are able to watch the live stream. As an additional measure, a pin code can be set up and used to restrict access to the live stream upon request.
What happens if there is a technical issue during the live stream?
We use standard procedures and take all precautions to avoid any technical issues. Although this is a very rare occurrence, technical issues can arise from equipment to cellular Internet reliability at the venue. There are a number of ways that we minimise the effects of these occurrences. Firstly, we make sure that we record all of our video and audio separately and independently on their respective devices. We also record the entire event on the laptop as well as in the cloud. If there is any unavoidable issue with the live stream, a full recording is uploaded and can be viewed from the same link.
How do you handle audio from speakers or musicians during the event?
We use professional wireless microphones which we place on the lectern, the funeral director or celebrant with a lapel microphone and we use a stereo microphone positioned to pick up sound from singers or musicians.
How do viewers access the live stream?
Once the live stream webpage has been created, an invitation link will be sent to you which can be forwarded to family and friends who cannot attend. The link will direct your viewers to the private webpage where the live stream can be viewed from a laptop, smart phone or tablet device or even a smart TV.
Can the live stream be viewed internationally?
Yes, the live stream can be watched anywhere around the globe. If you are in a different time zone and cannot watch the live stream, you can watch it at any later time from the same link.
Do you offer multiple camera angles during the lifestream?
We use three cameras as our standard. This allows us to capture wide shots, close-ups, and side angles. We softly transition between different camera angles throughout the service to give the best possible live production for your viewers. We do not offer a single camera production as this adversely affects the live stream with unwanted camera movement and zooming. If you can imagine a single camera being picked up and moved to a different position during the live stream, you would most likely be looking at the floor or the ceiling during this time. For this reason we only use multiple cameras for our live streaming production.
How discreetly can you live stream a funeral service?
Understanding the emotional significance of the event, and then conducting yourself in a respectful, unobtrusive manner is vital. We discreetly set up at the rear of the church and use wireless cameras and microphones so we don’t get in the way. We also wear black business attire so we blend in and don’t stand out.
Is there a way to integrate visual tributes or memorial slideshows into the live stream?
Yes. We can integrate any video tributes, eulogies or slideshows seamlessly into the Live Stream at the same time they are played within the church or venue. We do not focus our cameras on a projector screen as this creates a poor experience for the viewers. We use the actual video file integrated into our system for the best result.
Can we add interactive elements like guest comments or a virtual guestbook during the lifestream?
Yes, viewers can add personalised messages and comments on the Live Stream webpage for the family to view at a convenient time. A condolence page is also available which allows viewers to leave messages and photos.
Is it possible to provide a highlight reel of the lifestream for social media sharing?
We can provide you with a highlight reel for you to share on social media upon request.
Can I download a recording of the live stream?
A full HD recording of the live stream is made available for download which can be kept as a keepsake forever. Funeral and wedding services can be very demanding and consuming for family members. Having a recording of the day, gives you the opportunity to view the service, eulogies or speeches at a convenient time when you have the ability to immerse yourself and take it all in.
What issues can arise during a live stream?
Although every necessary precaution is taken, there can come a risk of poor cellular Internet connectivity at the venue and technical issues that may on a rare occasion, affect the live stream. Should an interruption of the Live Stream occur, a full back up recording will be uploaded to the webpage as soon as the live stream has finished. All viewers will be kept up to date via a message on the webpage.
